Cookie Policy: Every cookie this site can set, named, with what it does and how long it lasts

Before you answer the banner, our server sets two cookies your browser cannot read: a session cookie that keeps the site’s forms working and secure, and a visit identifier so your page views count as one visit rather than several. Once you answer, a third cookie records your choice. Everything else waits for your consent. Below is the full list, named rather than described in categories, so you can check it against what your browser actually shows.

  • Two cookies before you choose
  • Measurement only after you accept
  • No advertising or social media pixels

What cookies are, and our position on them

Small files a website asks your browser to keep. Useful for a few things, abused for many others.

A cookie is a short piece of text stored by your browser and sent back to the site that set it. Some are genuinely necessary — remembering that you dismissed a banner, keeping a form from losing your answers. Most of the rest exist to follow people between websites.

Our position

  • No advertising or remarketing pixels, and no social media tracking widgets. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
  • Before you answer the banner our server sets one identifier, visitor_uuid, so your page views are counted as one visit. Your browser cannot read it and it is not shared with anyone.
  • Every page view is recorded on our own server — the page, where you arrived from, your approximate city from your IP address, and your device type. This happens whether or not you accept, and the data stays with us.
  • Accepting switches on measurement of how the page is used: where people click, how far they scroll, which buttons they press, how long they stay, and a replay of the interaction on the page. Refusing leaves all of that off.
  • Refusing leaves the site fully functional. Nothing is withheld, and the banner does not reappear on every page to wear you down.

Cookies this site uses

The complete list. If your browser shows a cookie on this domain that is not here, we want to know about it.

Set without consent

Cookies set before you choose
cookie_accepted Records your answer to the cookie banner, so you are not asked again. Values: granted or denied. 12 months
visitor_uuid A random identifier set by our server on your first page view, so your pages count as one visit instead of several. Marked HttpOnly, so scripts in the page cannot read it. Not shared with any third party. 12 months
velsa_public (session cookie) Keeps your place between page loads while the server builds the page. Holds no identifier of its own. When you close the browser

Measured only after you accept

What is measured after you accept
Live visitor ping Tells our panel you are still on the page, so we can see how many people are on the site now and how long pages hold attention. Not stored in your browser
Click heatmap Where on the page people click, as coordinates — not what you typed. Not stored in your browser
Scroll depth How far down the page you read, as a percentage. Not stored in your browser
Button and form tracking Which calls to action you press — WhatsApp, phone, the consultation form. Not stored in your browser
Session replay A reconstruction of your movement, clicks and scrolling on the page, so we can see where the page confuses people. Form fields you type into are not captured. Not stored in your browser
Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_8N35S63HXP) Counts visits, the pages viewed and where visitors arrived from, as statistics. Loaded only after you accept; advertising features and Google signals are switched off. 13 months

Apart from Google Analytics, none of this is stored in your browser — it is sent to our own server and kept there. We do not sell it, share it with advertising networks, or use it to build a profile that follows you to other sites. Until you accept, the Google tag is not loaded at all; after that, your answer is passed to it as a consent signal, and advertising storage stays refused either way.

What we do not set

  • Advertising or remarketing cookies of any kind.
  • Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn or X conversion pixels.
  • Cross-site identity or fingerprinting scripts.
  • Chat widgets that profile visitors across sites.
  • Anything that follows you to another website. Everything described above is measured on this site; apart from Google Analytics, used only with your consent, it stays on our server.

Local storage, and the tools on this site

The calculators keep nothing. Your answers live in the page while you are on it and are gone the moment you reload or leave. That is stronger than storing them, and it is deliberate.

The self-assessment tools — the cost estimator, recovery timeline, Norwood scale, BMI and weight-loss projection, implant sizing and smile designer — run entirely in your browser. They do not save your answers anywhere: nothing is written to local storage, and nothing you enter reaches our servers.

Kept in your browser
velsa.dock.tip Whether the floating contact bar has already shown its one-off tip, so it is not shown again. Set whether or not you accept. When you close the tab
session_page_views How many pages you have viewed in this visit. Only after you accept. When you close the tab
replay_session_id Ties the page recordings in one visit together. Only after you accept. When you close the tab

Changing your mind, and clearing what is stored

Three ways to control this, in increasing order of thoroughness.

On this site

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. It reopens the banner with your current choice shown, and a change takes effect immediately — withdrawing consent also deletes the analytics cookies rather than merely stopping new ones.

In your browser

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and Delete browsing data to clear what is already stored.
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data, or Advanced → Block all cookies.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.
  • On iOS and Android the same options sit under the browser app’s own settings rather than the system settings.

Signals we honour

  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser sends it, we treat analytics as refused and do not show you the banner asking again.
  • Do Not Track: the same, although the standard is effectively dead and almost nobody honours it any more.

Clearing cookies will also remove the record of your banner choice, so you will be asked once more on your next visit. That is a limitation of the mechanism rather than a tactic.

Third parties and embedded content

Content loaded from somewhere else can set its own cookies. Here is everything on this site that could.

Third-party content
Velsa measurement (ours, not a third party) Site-wide, only after you accept No third-party cookie. The visit identifier is our own and is listed above.
Google Analytics 4 (Google) Site-wide, only after you accept _ga and _ga_8N35S63HXP, 13 months. Advertising features off; data is processed by Google, including in the United States.
WhatsApp click-to-chat link Buttons throughout the site None. It is an ordinary link; nothing loads until you click it
Fonts Site-wide None. Fonts are served from our own domain, not from Google Fonts

Links to other sites

Where we link to a hospital, an accreditation body or a regulator, that site has its own policies and we have no control over them. A link is not an endorsement of their privacy practices — only of the information at the other end.

If you clicked through from an advertisement

Advertising platforms may add tracking parameters to the URL you arrive on. We do record those parameters with your visit, so we can tell which campaign brought you here. They stay on our own server: we do not build a profile from them, do not pass them to anyone, and do not run a conversion pixel that reports back to the platform that you contacted us.
