Brow Lift in Turkey: 2026 prices, endoscopic versus temporal, and how to avoid the permanently surprised look

A brow lift raises a descended eyebrow and smooths the forehead, opening the eye without removing eyelid skin. At Velsa it costs £2,200–£3,400 depending on technique — and the difference between a good result and an obvious one is a few millimetres.

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift repositions the eyebrow and the soft tissue of the forehead upward, correcting the descent that makes the upper lid look hooded and gives the face a tired or stern expression at rest.

The brow descends with age because the forehead tissue loosens and the muscles that pull it down — around the eyes and between the brows — gradually win against the single muscle that lifts it. The result is a brow that sits lower, particularly at the outer third, pushing skin into the upper lid and shortening the distance between brow and lash line.

This matters because a hooded upper lid is frequently a brow problem wearing an eyelid disguise. Removing upper lid skin in a patient whose brow has dropped tethers the brow lower still, which is why the brow position test should come before any blepharoplasty decision.

The techniques

Brow lift techniques compared
Endoscopic 3–5 small, behind the hairline 2–5 mm, whole brow Most patients
Temporal (lateral) 2, behind the temporal hairline 2–4 mm, outer brow only Outer brow descent
Coronal One across the scalp, ear to ear 5 mm or more Heavy brows, rarely used now
Direct Immediately above the brow Precise, significant Facial palsy, very heavy brows

Endoscopic brow lifting is the modern default: small incisions hidden behind the hairline, a camera to work under, and fixation to hold the brow in its new position. The coronal lift that produced reliable results at the cost of a long scar and permanent numbness is now reserved for unusual cases.

Is a brow lift worth it over botulinum toxin?

Botulinum toxin can raise the outer brow by a millimetre or two by relaxing the muscles that pull it down, and for mild descent that is often enough. It costs a fraction as much, takes ten minutes and wears off in four months. A brow lift is the answer when the descent is structural rather than muscular, or when you are tired of repeating injections indefinitely. Trying the injections first is a sensible way to preview the direction of travel.

Bars span the usual range in each market, not a single quoted figure. Non-Turkish figures are indicative market ranges rather than quotes from named providers.

US and UK figures are typically the surgeon and facility only. Flights, accommodation, transfers and follow-up are extra in those markets and included in the Velsa price, which is the comparison that actually matters.

Your own price comes from a written quote after a clinician has reviewed your case. Nothing on this chart is a quote.

Why do patients from the UK, US and Europe choose Turkey?

Patients choose Turkey for lower all-inclusive prices, experienced plastic surgeons who operate at high volume, modern private hospitals, short waiting times and easy direct flights from most European and many US cities.

Turkey has become one of the world's leading medical travel destinations. According to Turkish industry figures reported in July 2026, the country welcomed around 1.4 million health tourists in 2025, generating over $3 billion in revenue. Aesthetic surgery is one of the most requested categories.

  • Value: lower operating and living costs mean you pay less for the same type of surgery and hospital care.
  • Experience: leading surgeons in Istanbul and other major cities perform aesthetic operations every week.
  • Speed: consultations can be arranged online within days, and surgery dates are flexible.
  • Access: most UK and European airports have direct flights of around 3–4 hours.
  • Recovery comfort: you recover in a hotel with a coordinator on hand, rather than managing alone at home.

Every Velsa quote names the surgeon and the hospital before you pay, so you can check both yourself.

Am I a good candidate for a brow lift?

The best candidates have genuine brow descent, a brow-to-lash distance that has shortened with age, and an understanding that the change should be subtle.

A brow lift is usually suitable if

  • Lifting your brow with a finger resolves the hooding of your upper lid.
  • Your outer brow has dropped, giving a heavy or stern look at rest.
  • You have deep horizontal forehead lines from constantly raising your brows to see.
  • You have vertical frown lines between the brows that botulinum toxin no longer fully controls.
  • Your hairline position allows an endoscopic approach, or you accept a hairline incision.
  • You are a non-smoker, or can stop at least four weeks before surgery.

You may need something else

  • Your brow position is normal and the problem is lid skin: eyelid surgery alone is the answer.
  • Your descent is mild: botulinum toxin may achieve enough for a fraction of the cost.
  • Your forehead is already high: an endoscopic lift raises the hairline further, so a hairline incision is preferable.
  • You are bald or have a receding hairline: incision placement becomes a real constraint and needs careful planning.
  • You want a dramatic change: more than five millimetres looks operated on rather than rested.
  • You have had previous forehead or scalp surgery, which affects what is achievable.

Our self-check below gives you an honest starting answer, and a Velsa plastic surgeon reviews your photographs free of charge before you commit to anything.

Your brow lift journey in Turkey, day by day

Seven nights in Istanbul, with sutures or staples removed before you fly home.

  1. 1Before you travel: you send photographs taken straight on with a completely neutral expression — brows relaxed, not raised. A plastic surgeon assesses brow position, hairline height and whether eyelid surgery should be combined. You receive a written fixed quote.
  2. 2Day 1 — arrival: your driver meets you at Istanbul airport and takes you to the hotel.
  3. 3Day 2 — assessment and surgery: blood tests and a consultation where the planned lift is demonstrated with you sitting upright and the incision positions agreed. Surgery the same afternoon, taking one to two hours. You wake with a light head dressing.
  4. 4Day 3 — discharge: the dressing is removed, the forehead checked and you are discharged to the hotel. Swelling is beginning.
  5. 5Days 4–5 — rest: swelling and bruising peak and may spread to the eyes. Head elevated day and night, cold compresses.
  6. 6Day 6 — review: swelling settling, brow position assessed with you sitting upright.
  7. 7Day 7 — suture or staple removal: removed at seven to ten days depending on technique. Your surgeon confirms you are fit to fly.
  8. 8Day 8 — fly home with scar care products and written aftercare.
  9. 9After you are home: nurse check-ins at one week, six weeks, three months and twelve months.

What you can check before you pay

The hospital

Accreditation
JCI-accredited, with the certificate number given to you in writing before any deposit.
Licence
Turkish Ministry of Health licence, named and verifiable independently rather than described in general terms.
Intensive care
On site, in the same building, for every procedure under general anaesthetic. Not "available nearby".
Anaesthesia
A consultant anaesthetist present throughout the operation — not supervising several theatres from elsewhere.
Nursing
24-hour nursing, with an English-speaking nurse on each shift and an interpreter for clinical conversations.

Photos are not proof

Photographs show you the rooms; they do not tell you whether there is an intensive care unit behind them. The facility is named to you in writing before you pay, with its licence and accreditation numbers, so you can verify it as well as see it.

If you want to see the building in person, ask — we can usually arrange a visit before you decide, and a provider unwilling to let you look around is telling you something.

How we verify a facility

How is a brow lift performed?

One to two hours under general anaesthetic or sedation, through small incisions hidden behind the hairline.

  1. 1Marking: with you sitting upright and your face completely relaxed, your surgeon marks the planned brow position and the incision sites. A brow marked with the patient lying down sits differently once they stand.
  2. 2Anaesthetic: general anaesthetic for most endoscopic lifts, or sedation with local for a temporal lift.
  3. 3Incisions: three to five incisions of one to two centimetres, placed one to two centimetres behind the hairline where the hair hides them completely.
  4. 4Endoscopic dissection: a camera is passed through one incision and instruments through the others. The forehead tissue is released from the bone across the brow and down to the orbital rim, under direct vision.
  5. 5Releasing the depressors: the muscles that pull the brow down and create frown lines — corrugator and procerus — are weakened or partially divided. This is often what produces the biggest improvement in a stern resting expression.
  6. 6Repositioning: the released forehead is lifted to the planned position, usually two to five millimetres, and checked with you positioned upright on the table.
  7. 7Fixation: the new position is held with absorbable fixation devices, sutures to the deep tissue or small cortical tunnels in the skull. Fixation is what makes the lift last rather than drift back.
  8. 8Closing: incisions closed with sutures or staples, removed at seven to ten days. A light head dressing is applied.

Brow lift recovery timeline

Expect ten to fourteen days before you look presentable, and three to six months for the final brow position as swelling resolves and the lift settles slightly.

  • Days 1–3: swelling across the forehead, often spreading to the eyes and sometimes bruising the eyelids. Head elevated at all times, including sleeping.
  • Days 4–7: swelling peaks then begins to settle. Numbness and an odd tight sensation across the scalp are normal and expected.
  • Days 7–10: sutures or staples removed. Most patients can cover residual bruising with makeup from about day eight.
  • Days 10–14: back at a desk job. The brow looks higher than the final result because of swelling.
  • Weeks 3–6: swelling largely resolved. The brow settles down a millimetre or two into its final position.
  • Weeks 4–6: light exercise restarts. No heavy lifting or inversion.
  • Months 3–6: the final brow position and expression. Scalp numbness continues improving.
  • Months 6–12: scalp sensation returns, usually completely. Itching during this phase is a sign of nerve recovery.

Is a brow lift in Turkey safe?

An endoscopic brow lift is a short, well-tolerated operation with a low complication rate. The risks that matter most are aesthetic — over-lifting and asymmetry — and nerve injury.

Velsa works only with JCI-accredited private hospitals in Istanbul and with plastic surgeons registered with the Turkish Ministry of Health who hold Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons membership.

Risks you should know about

  • Over-elevation: the surprised look. The commonest aesthetic failure and hard to reverse.
  • Asymmetry: brows are rarely level to begin with, and small differences often persist.
  • Frontal nerve injury: weakness of the forehead on one side, usually temporary but occasionally permanent.
  • Sensory nerve injury: numbness behind the incisions, common and usually resolving over 6–12 months.
  • Hairline elevation: an endoscopic lift raises the hairline slightly, which matters if yours is already high.
  • Hair loss around the incisions: usually temporary, occasionally permanent in a narrow band.
  • Relapse: the brow settling back down, more likely where fixation was inadequate.
  • Haematoma: bleeding under the forehead flap, uncommon but needing prompt attention.

Tell your surgeon if you have had previous forehead surgery, scalp scarring, or any facial nerve weakness. All three change the surgical plan, and the last may be the reason a direct brow lift is chosen instead.

Can a brow lift be combined with other procedures?

Very commonly with upper eyelid surgery, where the two together address what neither can alone — and with a facelift, where treating the upper face separately would leave it out of step.

A facelift addresses the lower face and neck and does nothing above the eyes. A brow lift addresses the upper third and nothing below. Patients who have one without the other sometimes find the untreated area now looks noticeably older by comparison.

Commonly combined with

  • Upper eyelid surgery: the classic combination. The brow lift raises the brow, and a conservative blepharoplasty removes the lid skin that remains. Doing the blepharoplasty alone on a descended brow makes the brow worse. See eyelid surgery.
  • Facelift: for a coherent whole-face result rather than a treated lower face and an untreated upper one. See facelift.
  • Mid-face lift: addresses the cheek and lower eyelid region between the two. See endoscopic mid-face lift.
  • Fat transfer to the temples and brow: restores volume that hollows with age and supports the lifted brow. See fat transfer.
  • Botulinum toxin: used afterwards rather than at the same time, to maintain the result by keeping the depressor muscles relaxed.

If you are having a blepharoplasty, ask your surgeon to assess your brow at the same consultation. It is the single most useful thing they can check, and it changes the recommendation in a meaningful proportion of cases.

How to prepare for your brow lift

Send photographs with a genuinely relaxed expression, stop smoking, discuss your hairline, and plan a fortnight before you are looked at closely.

  • Photographs: take them straight on with your face completely relaxed and your brows down. Most people unconsciously raise their brows for a camera, which hides the very thing being assessed.
  • Hairline: discuss it explicitly. If your forehead is already high, an incision at the hairline rather than behind it avoids raising it further.
  • Medication: tell your surgeon everything you take. Blood thinners, anti-inflammatories, fish oil and vitamin E all increase bruising around the eyes and forehead.
  • Botulinum toxin: tell your surgeon when you last had it. Most prefer you to be at least three months clear so your true brow position can be assessed.
  • Smoking: stop at least four weeks before and after. Scalp flap healing depends on blood supply.
  • Time off: plan 10–14 days. Forehead and eyelid bruising is highly visible.
  • Packing list: a travel pillow to keep your head elevated, loose button-up tops, dark glasses and your medication in its original packaging.

Brow lift results and how long they last

A well-judged brow lift lasts eight to twelve years. The result looks too high for the first few weeks and settles into its final position by three to six months.

The aim is a rested rather than lifted appearance — brows that sit where they did ten years ago, a forehead that is not permanently working to hold them up, and a resting expression that matches how you actually feel. Done well, the change is noticeable without being identifiable, and the forehead lines soften because you are no longer compensating.

Judge it at three months with a neutral expression and a straight-on photograph in the same light as your pre-operative one. The brow sits a millimetre or two lower at three months than at three weeks, which is expected and planned for. Ageing continues, and maintaining the result with botulinum toxin to the depressor muscles extends it meaningfully. As consented cases are added, our before and after gallery shows three and twelve month comparisons.

FAQ

Brow lift in Turkey: frequently asked questions

At Velsa, £2,200–£2,700 for a temporal lift and £2,600–£3,400 for an endoscopic lift, all-inclusive. That covers the surgeon, anaesthetist, one hospital night, six hotel nights, transfers, suture removal and twelve months of aftercare. Flights are not included.

Lift your eyebrow gently with a finger. If the hooding resolves, your brow has descended and a brow lift addresses the cause. If the skin still hangs, it is genuine lid excess and blepharoplasty is the answer. Many patients need both.

Two to five millimetres. That is the range that looks rested rather than surprised. Anything more is the thing that makes brow surgery recognisable from across a room.

With an endoscopic lift, three to five small incisions sit one to two centimetres behind the hairline where hair covers them completely. If your hairline is high, an incision at the front of the hairline may be preferred, which is more visible initially but settles well.

An endoscopic lift raises it slightly, usually by a few millimetres. If your forehead is already high, say so — a hairline incision lifts the brow without moving the hairline back, and may be the better choice for you.

For mild descent, often enough. Relaxing the muscles that pull the brow down can raise the outer brow a millimetre or two for a fraction of the cost. It wears off in four months. Trying it first is a sensible way to preview the direction before committing to surgery.

Typically eight to twelve years. Ageing continues, but you do not return to your starting point. Maintaining the result with botulinum toxin to the depressor muscles extends it meaningfully.

The sensory nerves behind the incisions are stretched or divided during dissection. Numbness is expected and usually resolves over six to twelve months. Intense itching during recovery is a sign the nerves are regenerating.

Ten to fourteen days to be presentable, three to six weeks for swelling to largely resolve, and three to six months for the final brow position. Bruising often spreads to the eyelids, which surprises patients who expected only forehead swelling.

They soften considerably, both because the skin is redraped and because you stop raising your brows to compensate for the descent. Deep set lines may not vanish entirely, and botulinum toxin afterwards addresses what remains.

Minor asymmetry is common early and usually reflects uneven swelling. Judge at three months. Brows are rarely level to begin with, and a surgeon who makes them perfectly symmetrical can actually produce an unnatural result.

Yes, and it often should be. A facelift treats the lower face and neck and does nothing above the eyes. Combining means one anaesthetic, one recovery and a result where no part of the face looks out of step with the rest.
